Twin Rivers BlogHey Everyone......
Hope your all doing well. We are back from Twin Rivers and our next and final outing for the season will be Galway
Downs. Make sure if you are planning on competing at Galway that you get your entries in now since entries will be closing
soon. Twin Rivers was another successful trip! Buzz showed we are ready for our
Rolex debut over the weekend out on XC as he zipped around like it was a novice course. Very exciting. We ended up 3rd overall
in the Advanced division. I first want to thank Michelle (my assistant) for another
great weekend! We tease her that she is the brains of our organization, but truly she is and without her help and hard work
I would not be as successful as I am. THANK YOU MICHELLE!!!!! Mallory braided
14 horses this weekend and worked for the Young Rider Program as well. Were not sure we will ever persuade her to braid another
horse. Thankfully Galway is more than a month away. Thank You Mal for all your help! And
my little princess Kaylawna was more like Cinderella. She donated her entire weekend to the Young Rider Program grooming.
She earned her 8 volunteer hours as well as some credits towards Camp next year. Way to go Lana B! It was my first ride on Santiago (Kevin Kress) horse. Santi was a superstar! A little excited about being back on
the show scene so didn't have the perfect dressage that I was hoping for but a 30.5 was good enough for me. He jumped
double clear XC and SJ and ended up 2nd out of almost 30 in the division. Sir
Elvis was a bit overwhelmed this weekend and a little green. He put in a lovely dressage test with a score of 30.5 as well.
But thought the XC course needed some revisions. Coaxing him along he got through the course but not after a stop at a very
challenging log on a hill with no landing. At least that's what he thought. Onward and Upward.......were looking forward
to a better outing at Galway. Scott rode Clark perfectly around his 2nd Preliminary,
and did a flawless job doing so. Scott has really learned how to be a true horseman while riding his horses. I was very proud
of his great riding out on the very challenging XC course. He took his time and rode all the direct roots and Clark jumped
around like a hunter. Good job Scott! Jeff Montgomery had a very steady weekend.
He was a little disappointed with his dressage score but he so close to getting his horse in the 30's I can taste it.
Keep up the good work Jeff. The very challenging stadium was not so challenging
for Jeff as he watched several of his peers drop down the placings as he ended up 6th overall. Good job Jeff and Leon! Tamara and Dandy had some unfortunate luck when Tamara had a heat stroke out on XC. The
heat was unbearable and you could see it written all over Dandy's face. (What happened to my kid?) He loaped around the
XC course not quite sure what was going on. A bit of a change from their aggressive round at Copper Meadows. Dandy realized
that something wasn't right after jumping down the double banks and breaking down to a trot and trotting over to a car
for help. We are laughing about it now but it was a bit scary having the ambulance go pick Tamara up from the XC course. A new lesson to be learned! More sleep and more food! And we got to see our friend Kathleen and Winnie, who moved to San Francisco about 6 months ago. Kathleen came after the show to school XC and executed the very challenging Training course. She
blasted right over the ditch wall which was the goal of the day. Very exciting! Way to go! Thank you to everyone for a great weekend!
